What is Mesotherapy?

The founder of Mesotherapy was Dr Pistor; the treatment became popular in the 1950’s to treat sports injuries. Mesotherapy treatment consists of micro-injections in to the meso-embryonic tissue (mesoderm layer). The micro-injections contain ingredients naturally found in the skin such HA, vitamins (A,B,C,D,E and K), minerals, amino acids, co-enzymes and nucleic acids in to the layers of skin where cell growth and repair occur.

Mechanism of action

Mesotherapy stimulates the function of fibroblasts leading to collagen production thus improving skin tone and wrinkle reduction. It stimulates micro-circulation leading to improvement to water retention and improved cell nutrition and detoxification. It also has antioxidant effects to make the skin look more youthful. Mesotherapy also releases fat from adipocytes.

Procedure of Mesotherapy

Local anesthetic (numbing cream) is applied to the area. The area is then cleaned with antiseptic. A series of superficial injections will be administered to the areas. Most people require 6-8 treatments every 4 weeks. Then maintenance sessions 1-2 in a year.
